Notes to Self
Studying personal wisdom this finals week
I have a final exam in less than one hour, which means I should probably be reviewing my course material. Instead, I've embarked on a grand tour of my notes app, the place where I collect on-the-go thoughts I don't have time to write out properly. If my exam covered life instead of accounting, this would be my study guide.
A plain white tee never fails.
God speaks in subtle ways: an ocean breeze, flowers pushing through concrete, a break in the clouds.
You can’t hate yourself into a version of yourself that you love.
A full dinner table is infinite.
We have discovered teleportation. It’s a good book.
We build the boxes we’re trapped in.
Why was my bag of salt and vinegar chips 50% air?
I don’t regret regret.
I want a busy life with slow moments.
“Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting that speaks.”
The early evening sun highlights all the places we forget to notice.
“Life is the best party I’ve ever been invited to.”
I’m a believer in dressing up for no reason.
One day, I’m going to paint a room in overalls, just for the hell of it.
Here’s to hand-holding.
It’s not going to be perfect, but it can be the beginning of something close to it.
I’m glad life did that.
Each morning, I indulge in a cup of ambition.
I always leave a bookstore with the sad reminder that I will never read everything I want to.
Being on the other side of an excuse is hard, but enlightening.
Color calls, I listen.
Music makes me die and come alive all at once.
“Perhaps if I make myself write I shall find out what is wrong with me.”
Bring back walking with urgency.
Turns out, I’ve spent this hour studying after all :)
